Marc by Marc Jacobs Bombay Mevie is your best new Fall bag

There are distinct differences between New York designer Marc Jacobs' Marc by Marc Jacobs and Marc Jacobs Collection handbag lines. The former is the funky retro diffusion line and the latter is for the slightly more refined (dare I say slightly stuffy?) woman. It's no secret that I personally prefer the Marc by Marc line for its cool and fun hipster style but find sometimes that these bags are a little too much fun and while they make great weekend bags, they're not at all work-appropriate. And the MJ collection bags, like the Stam, are at times too 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' for me. So what's a bag lover to do? Luckily, sometimes a bag in either one of his lines strikes just the right balance between the two, bridging the gap between the downtown hipsters and the uptown set. The Marc by Marc Jacobs Bombay Mevie is one of them. New for Fall, and in a delicious shade of deep plum, the Mevie is the bag you'll want to carry all season - and probably beyond. Made of pebbled leather, this roomy crescent-shaped hobo handbag features tubing and topstitching around the edges, brass buckle details on the shoulder strap, a large flap front pocket with magnetic closure and a logo-embossed padlock - which adds a bit of that signature Marc by Marc Jacobs-style. And it's a nice Marc by Marc Jacobs price too - $458. Not bad! Not bad at all.
